Meet our Teachers

AmandaMiss Amanda

I have been a member of the Little Red Team since 2012, I moved to Crested Butte in 2010 to teach skiing, after guiding and teaching kayaking for seven years on beautiful Lake Superior in the great Northwood’s of Wisconsin, followed by a season as a kayak guide in Portland, Oregon. But, since my first visit to Crested Butte in 2005, I was hooked and knew that my path would lead back to this very special mountain town. I have a degree in Outdoor Education emphasis in Therapy from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin and have always enjoyed working with and teaching children of all ages. I am delighted to be working with a variety of ages here at Little Red, they are all such a joy to be around. I look forward to coming to work each day to see what surprises the day holds for me and what your child will say or do next to make me smile!

Hi. I’m Mary Virginia Simpson. I recently graduated from Western State Colorado University with a B.A. in Psychology, which includes an emphasis in school counseling. My degree work has a strong focus in Elementary Education and I am currently pursuing an Early Childhood Education certification. During my last three years of school, I taught and assisted preschool through 1st grade at several schools in the Gunnison area. I have a passion for working with younger children and I am delighted to join the team at Little Red Schoolhouse. The children make each day interesting and rewarding with their questions, curiosity, and energy! As a Colorado native, I enjoy the outdoor life our beautiful state offers through skiing, hiking, and backpacking.

Hi, I’m Jordyn! I started out my love for children early on as a nanny for two wonderful families in college. I went to school for Fine Arts in Denver, and after graduating and starting my own family, moved to Crested Butte to raise my daughter Cora. After sending my kiddo to Little Red Schoolhouse I found myself once again wanting to work with the little ones, and chose the very little ones at Teeny Red, where I have been ever since. I am continuing my early childhood education, and love learning!I truly enjoy nurturing babies and toddlers in a bright and fun learning environment and love each child as if they were my very own. I love watching these children grow and am excited to live in this wonderful small community where I can actually watch them grown even when they leave my care!

Hi, I’m Jessica Gorsuch. I’ve been teaching at Teeny and Little Red since August 2016. I have my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Webster University in St. Louis. My teaching style aligns with that of Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence theory. Children develop in different ways and use their wide range of strengths to grow and understand; whether it be through music, logic, linguistics, movement, visuals, nature, social or intrapersonal ways. I love living in the valley with my family and take every chance to soak up the beauty that it offers (skiing, trail running, biking).

Hi! My name is Chloe Bowman and kids are my passion. I’m originally from Colorado Springs and I’ve been working with children over that past 5 years both privately and as a preschool teacher , and I adore it! Especially after moving to this valley and spending three years as a teachers’ aide in Gunnison, I realized that working with kids is both the most challenging and rewarding job any individual can embark on and I truly thrive at supporting and pursuing a role in the future of these children’s lives!

I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, and have worked with children ranging from 6 weeks all the way up to 7 years of age. I love working with young children!
